Husband to Emily Father of Leonard, Cornelius, Alan & William
4983, 23rd Battalion Australian Infantry Fought in the Second Battle of Bullecourt (France) 3 May 1917. Wounded in action same day (gun shot wound to head). Died of wounds 5 May 1917

This is the only known photograph of Cornelius Snr, taken outside an English Hospital (Fargo) where he was being treated for Otitis (circa October 1916).

The Australian Memorial Bullecourt
It is dedicated to the memory of the 10,000 Australians killed and wounded in the two battles of Bullecourt in 1917, and to their comrades who fell and lie forever in the soil of France. |
